Over the years since I first began my homeschool journey, I have had dozens of conversations with people about homeschooling, and more specifically, about my decision to homeschool my children. Occasionally, though not often enough, I have felt free to express my views with complete honesty. Often — in fact, all too often — I have felt compelled to “tone down” my comments so as not to offend the listener.
I couldn’t stop thinking about Laura yesterday. On the drive to church, during the service and on the drive home again, my thoughts flew to a little girl that I have never met.
The principle of the Great Commission is this; “as you go into your world, make disciples.” For young moms, “your world” may be primarily your home. It may also include ministry opportunities in your neighborhood, the park and the grocery store. The goal here is to think about where you are going and how you can make disciples of your children as you go in the same manner that Jesus did with His disciples.

A child may be hard to teach for a variety of reasons. He may be rigid in his thought patterns and resistant to change. He may find it difficult to change from one thought or activity to another. Learning may not come easily because he has weak visual, auditory, perceptual, or memory skills, etc.
I am sure every single one of you has suffered or is currently suffering from what I call Brick Wall Syndrome!
The choice to homeschool is not entered into lightly, and is definitely a lifestyle choice as much as an educational choice. Homeschooling families are quick to recount the positive aspects of schooling at home, but as with any major life decision, there are some challenges to consider as well.
As I approach this topic, I realize how ridiculous it is to assume that I can write about “THE” Top 10 reasons to homeschool. One of the main reasons to homeschool your children is that you can be at the helm. You can do it for whatever reason you want in whatever way you want, so for me to assume that I could come up with the definitive top ten reasons seems kind of silly.
Education requires learners to ask why, not just what and how. And when they answer the question why, it requires them to ask, “In light of why, what now?”
