Most parents don’t want their children to get bored… ever! Just think of the many hours and dollars parents spend keeping their children busy with sports, music, art classes, after-school activities – not to mention the toys, videos, computer games etc. that we give our children to keep boredom at bay.
Art appreciation (or the study of art history) need not be difficult. You don’t need a fancy curriculum or a complicated plan.
“Hey, Mom! Let’s go on a field trip!” Those words can either inspire us or put us into a state of complete panic.
Interruptions in our school day – are they simply a fact of life that we have to put up with or are there things we can do to control them? I believe the answer for both questions is: “yes”.

When building a house here in northern Wisconsin, many people start with a cement block foundation. When my husband and I built our house this is how we started as well. In the process of putting in the foundation, my husband handled and placed every single one of those cement blocks himself.
