Meet Scott PowellAuthor Since: 2010-04-16 22:21:49Scott Powell is a historian residing in Houston, TX. He is the creator of HistoryAtOurHouse--the ultimate homeschooling curriculum, and A First History for AdultsTM--the best way to learn history as an adult. Mr. Powell graduated from the University of Alberta in 1995, with a degree in Civil Engineering, and was a practicing Geographic Information Systems consultant for over ten years. In 2002 he completed his BA in History at York University, in Toronto, where he received the History Department's Merit Award as the highest ranking graduate. While pursing his studies at York, Mr. Powell also completed the Undergraduate Philosophy of Ayn Rand Seminars of the Ayn Rand Institute, and attended classes at the Objectivist Graduate Center (now OAC). Afterwards he worked for four years at VanDamme academy, a noted private school in southern California, where he developed its history and geography curriculum for the elementary grades. If you’re like me, you hated history when you were young, but as an adult you’ve come to appreciate that there’s a lot more to history than there seemed to be based on the way we were taught. Sadly, however, because we weren’t properly taught history as children, putting together a good history program for our kids can be tortuously difficult.
